TED talks: Mike Rowe of Dirty Jobs

I love T.V.   I probably watch way more than I should.  One of my favorites is Dirty Jobs, and I remember watching the episode that he's talking about here, and thinking, "There has to be a more humane way of doing this."  Maybe there isn't...

  1. Wow, I never realized how erudite Mike Rowe is. "this is truly foul" is the kind of dialogue I am more familiar with hearing from him. Thanks for the post Wayne. I am going to be completely rethinking how I relate to that show. As for ethics in animal husbandry... obviously it our responsibility to act in a way that results in the least amount of total suffering. The system that is currently in place seems to satisfy that (assuming that castration and tail removal is not negotiable). The sheep get a swift procedure from the shepherd and the squeamish humans get a nice story about rubber bands from the "authorities" -JS
